Where’d You Go, Bernadette‘s publish date is Tuesday, and yet, somehow I wound up as hold #260 when I logged onto the Seattle Public Library’s website Monday.
Seattle: Readers gonna read.
But here’s something to make the time go faster: On Tuesday, Maria Semple herself will be reading at Seattle’s Elliott Bay Book Company! Since I hear the book is not very flattering of my fair city, maybe she can, cough, qualify it.
Says the bio on her publisher’s website:
Maria Semple‘s first novel, This One is Mine, was set in Los Angeles, where she also wrote for television shows including Arrested Development, Mad About You, and Ellen. She escaped from Los Angeles and lives with her family in Seattle, where her second novel takes place.
Also, please look at the doll tableaus on her website. (I particularly like the American Girl Doll dressed as Bernadette.)
