When you ask a seasoned Woody Allen fan if they’re going to see the one coming up (because there’s always one coming up), you’re most likely to get a shrug and a “Maybe.” Statistically speaking, out of 46-ish films some are bound to be duds–even when made by a genius.
Except, I’m getting really eager to see this summer’s Blue Jasmine. It could be my affection for To Rome, with Love spilling over, but the production stills trickling out have such great colors. And scenery. And actors.
This is set to be a sweet summer movies-wise, and not just for lovers of CGI or 3-D. A few selections:
– I’m So Excited – Pedro Almodovar
– Frances Ha – Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig (also starring Sting and Trudy Stuyler’s daughter Micky)
– Before Midnight – Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy, and Ethan Hawke
– Something in the Air – Olivier Assayas
